The Elf on the Shelf® 101: Everything You Need to Know

When Christmastime rolls around, you may notice the arrival of Santa’s little red-suited helpers, better known as Scout Elves or The Elf on the Shelf®! Pictures pop up on social media, or you’ve heard friends excitedly talk about all their elf’s seasonal hijinks. But if you’ve never adopted a Scout Elf of your very own, you may be wondering ”What do the elves do each Christmas?” Luckily, we have your answers, friends! Watch the video below, and read on to find out the basics about Santa’s most special helpers!

  1. WHAT ARE SCOUT ELVES?

They’re Santa’s most trusted helpers who help him in homes around the world and back at the North Pole. Each elf wears a red-and-white suit, a pointy hat and a white collar—that’s how you know they’re an official Scout Elf!

  2. WHAT ARE SOME OF THE DUTIES OF SCOUT ELVES?

Scout Elves are the only elves who can interact with humans and visit families. Therefore, they’re trusted to do many jobs for Santa, including sorting and answering mail at the North Pole. When Scout Elves visit homes, they find a place to sit and watch all day long. Each night, they fly to the North Pole to report to Santa all the nice things a family has done—that’s how Santa knows how to craft his nice list!

  3. HOW CAN I ADOPT MY OWN SCOUT ELF?

It’s easy! Visit Santa’s Store to learn more about The Elf on the Shelf® box set.
