Look What the Storm Blew In!
Materials:
- Polyester wadding (see instructions for sizing)
- Polyester toy filling
- Round wire wreath frame
- Hot glue gun
- Glue sticks
- Small lightweight objects to place in the storm swirl
- Printer
- Paper
- Printable
- Fishing line
Instructions:
- Your elf will decide how large they want to make their storm swirl and will adjust the measurements of the supplies accordingly. (The storm swirl pictured uses a 45cm (18in) wreath frame and a sheet of polyester wadding cut to a long triangle shape that is about 60cm (24in) wide at the top, about 1.5m (5ft) long and 5cm (2in) wide at the bottom tip.)
- First, your elf will tie lengths of fishing line in at least two places on the wreath frame to aid in hanging up the storm swirl after it is complete.
- Your elf will glue the top edge of the triangle of polyester wadding along the edge of the wreath frame, overlapping any extra and gluing it down.
- Next, your elf will begin gluing together the long edges of the polyester wadding, overlapping it irregularly to create a slightly twisted cone shape.
- Then, your elf will lightly glue down long tufts of polyester toy filling from top to bottom, round and round, shaping it to resemble the swirls of a storm.
- Your elf will leave some polyester toy filling trailing from the bottom to resemble the tail of the storm.
- Finally, your elf will print and cut out the printable and place the elements into the storm swirl, as if it has whipped up items from the ground. They may also add small lightweight objects, like a miniature chair or other items.
- Lastly, your elf will stand beside the sign and wait for you to tumble out of bed to find them!
